How To Change The Password For A cPanel Account in WHM

Sometimes users forget the password to their cPanel. They may have deleted the welcome email it was sent in, or perhaps they changed password managers and that one didn’t get carried over in the migration to their new password manager. That happened to me once, actually. Since then, I’ve been a bit more careful – but your users might not be! Either way, this KB article will help you change the password for a cPanel account using WHM.

Good to know:

WHM is only available on our Reseller or VPS plans. Shared and WordPress Hosting plans don’t include WHM. If you’re on one of those plans and need your cPanel password reset, please contact our live chat support or open a ticket inside Client Area.

Step 1: Login to your WHM. This can be done a variety of ways, but the sure fire easiest way is to login to Client Area, then click WHM.

Step 2: On the left side of WHM, beneath Account Information, click List Accounts to show all of your cPanel accounts.

Step 3: Click the + icon to the left of account for which you need to change the password.

Step 4: In the area that expands beneath the account you’ve selected, enter your new password in the Change Password field, then click the blue Change button to change the cPanel password.

That’s it! Now the password for that users cPanel account has been changed. You can communicate the new password to that user using your preferred medium.
