Microsoft has really stepped up and made sweeping improvements to it’s iconic email application – Outlook – on the Android Mobile Operating System. However, adding an IMAP Email Account to the app still isn’t as intuitive as some would like ,which is why we created this Knowledgebase Article for you!<\/p>\n

How to add your first IMAP Email Account to Outlook on Android<\/h2>\n

Step 1:<\/strong> If you haven’t already downloaded & installed Outlook, you can click here<\/a> to open the Play Store.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong> The first time you open Outlook, you’ll see a screen like the one below.<\/p>\n

Tap\u00a0Get Started<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong> Enter the email address you are adding as user@yourdomain.tld<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then tap Continue<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong> Outlook will attempt to help you setup your email account as though you are connecting to a Microsoft Exchange mail server. We’ll need to switch the account type to continue setup.<\/p>\n

To do this, tap the? mark in the circle<\/strong> located in the top right corner of the screen.\u00a0Then tap\u00a0Change account provider<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/strong> Outlook will provide you with a list of common account types. In the 3rd section, tap IMAP<\/strong> to continue.<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong> On the next screen, you will be prompted to enter the account credentials for this new account.<\/p>\n

Enter the\u00a0password<\/strong> for the email account you are adding.
\nNext, enter the name<\/strong> you want other people to see when you use Outlook to send mail.
\nThen, give the account a name<\/strong> so you can easily identify it in Outlook. This is useful if you have multiple accounts setup in Outlook.<\/em><\/p>\n

Next, tap the toggle<\/strong> in the bottom right to enable the\u00a0advanced settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 7:<\/strong> We will examine the next screen in 2 parts.<\/p>\n

Firstly, we’ll need to enter the incoming IMAP server information. Enter this as\u00a0mail.yourdomain.tld

Then enter the username<\/strong> for the account you’re adding as user@yourdomain.tld<\/strong><\/p>\n

And finally, enter the password<\/strong> for the account you are adding.<\/p>\n

Next, you’ll need to scroll down so you can enter the\u00a0SMTP Outgoing Mail Server<\/strong> settings.<\/p>\n \t\t

Enter mail.yourdomain.tld<\/strong> as the SMTP Host Name<\/strong>
\nEnter your user@yourdomain.tld<\/strong> as the SMTP Username<\/strong>
\nAnd enter the password<\/strong> for the account you’re adding<\/p>\n

To proceed, tap the \u2714 mark in the top right corner.<\/p>\n

Step 8:<\/strong> That’s it! If the settings you typed are correct, you’ll see a screen like the one below!<\/p>\n

How to add additional IMAP Email Accounts to Outlook on Android<\/h2>\n

Let’s say it’s been a few weeks since you started using Outlook on Android and you need to add a second email account to the App. This section of the guide will get you sorted!<\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/strong> Open the Outlook app and tap the \u2709 icon<\/strong> in the circle located in the top left of the app.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong> Tap the \u2699 icon<\/strong> in the bottom left to open the Settings area in Outlook.<\/p>\n
