Different web redirects can be created from your cPanel account; these can be either Temporary or Permanent.<\/p>\n

Temporary redirects<\/h3>\n

Temporary redirects<\/span> (status code\u00a0302 – Found) can be used when your website must be temporarily\u00a0redirected. For example, if you are performing site maintenance, redirect the visitors to a temporary page to inform your visitors that you will be back shortly.<\/p>\n

Permanent redirects<\/h3>\n

Permanent redirects<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>(status code 301 – Moved Permanently), it’s a method of telling visitors and search engines that the web page or site has been permanently moved to a new location. This will allow search engines to direct ranking and value signals to the new URL as they understand this location as the new, permanent home for that content. This type of redirect should be used whenever a website is moved to a new domain name.<\/p>\n

How to Setup a Domain Redirect in cPanel<\/h3>\n

1)<\/strong>\u00a0Log into cPanel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> Click the “Redirects”<\/strong> button in the Domains<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> You will then be on the Add Redirect<\/strong> page. From the “Type”<\/strong> drop-down box chose which type or redirect you want to create for the domain\u00a0Permanent (301)<\/strong>\u00a0or Temporary (302)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> Click the next drop-down box and choose the domain you want to redirect.<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> For the slash ‘\/’ field, enter any folder names if necessary.<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> Enter the address you want to redirect to in the “Redirects<\/strong>\u00a0to<\/strong>” section.<\/p>\n

7)<\/strong> Chose either of the options:<\/p>\n

  • “Only redirect with www.”<\/li>\n
  • “Redirect with or without www.”<\/li>\n
  • “Do Not Redirect www.”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    8)<\/strong> Check the box to create a Wild Card Redirect. This will add the file\/folder name after the URL when it redirects. For instance, domain.com\/file.php would redirect to domain2.com\/file.php.<\/p>\n

    9)<\/strong> Click the “Add<\/strong>” button when you are happy with the settings.<\/p>\n
