At times, operating a WordPress site requires you to troubleshoot random errors that appear seemingly from nowhere. They are usually quickly resolved, though. One standard WordPress error is the “Too Many Redirects” problem. This issue can appear differently depending on your browser.<\/p>\n

For example, below is how this error appears in Firefox:<\/p>\n

Below is how the same error appears in current builds of Chrome:<\/p>\n

This error usually occurs due to a misconfigured redirection issue. As you may know. WordPress operates on an SEO Friendly URL Structure to make it easier for crawlers from Google, Bing, and other search engines (yes, there are others!) to find content on your website.<\/p>\n

Several plugins also use this redirect feature, such as Yoast SEO which allows you to perform advanced SEO features with categories and posts. Sometimes these changes can cause the redirects to malfunction, and users will be redirected back and forth from one URL to the other, then see the too many redirects error.<\/p>\n

How to Fix The WordPress Too Many Redirects Error<\/h3>\n

Typically this error is caused because incorrect URL information is present in the WordPress Address URL or Site Address URL in the General Settings of your WordPress Site.<\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/strong> Open your \/wp-admin area and hover over Settings on the left side of your Dashboard, then click General.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong> Look at your WordPress Address URL and your Site Address URL and make sure the same domain is used.<\/p>\n

If they are not the same, correct the URLs, then click the blue save changes button at the bottom.<\/p>\n \t\t

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tBe sure you do not leave a trailing slash at the end of the URL. For example, this is incorrect syntax: https:\/\/www.yourdomain.com\/<\/p>\n

This is proper syntax: https:\/\/www.yourdomain.com \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n

Now, try to load the page or post where you previously received a Too Many Redirects error, and the problem should be resolved!<\/p>\n
