Joomla is a powerful Content Management system that you can use to build websites and apps. However, sometimes you need a bit of help to configure some of its settings, considering the breadth of the application and it’s capabilities.<\/p>\n

This Knowledge Base article will guide you thru configuring Joomla to send email using SMTP.<\/p>\n

How to Configure Joomla to Use SMTP For Sending Emails<\/h2>\n

Step 1: Log in to your Joomla Administrative Control Panel:<\/p>\n

Step 2: In the menu on the left of the Control Panel, click “Global<\/strong>” beneath Configuration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 3: In the Global Configuration Menu, click the Server tab:<\/p>\n

Step 4: On the Server Settings Page, look for Mail Settings. Click the drop-down menu next to Mailer.<\/p>\n

In the drop-down menu, choose SMTP.<\/p>\n

Step 5: Enter your SMTP Server Information. This will be in the form of mail.yourdomain.tld.<\/p>\n

Ensure the SMTP Port is set to port 465, and from the SMTP Security dropdown, you choose SSL\/TLS.<\/p>\n

If you are sending from a ChemiCloud email account, select Yes next to SMTP Authentication to enter the account credentials.<\/p>\n

Once you have entered the account information, click Send Test Mail to test the configuration. Check the Inbox of the account you set up to send from and see if you see an email from your Joomla installation.<\/p>\n

If you do, congrats, you entered the proper credentials. If you don’t see one, return to your settings and try again.<\/p>\n
