The first thing you will need is an FTP<\/a> client. This is a program that allows you to connect to a host server’s FTP connection.\u00a0You can choose to use different FTP clients but they will all operate almost the same,\u00a0but we recommend FileZilla<\/a>.\u00a0Please be sure to select one that allows for FTP over SSL (FTPS) as a \u00a0secure encryption option within its settings.<\/p>\n

Follow these steps to connect to the FTP server with FileZilla (make sure to get the \u201cclient\u201d version):<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> Download and install\u00a0FileZilla on your computer.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> Open FileZilla and enter the FTP login details in the fields located at the top of the application.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> You will need the following details regarding the FTP account on your server:<\/p>\n \t\t

\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tHost<\/strong>: this can be your domain name of the hosting server where your account resides;
\nUsername<\/strong>:\u00a0your cPanel username;
\nPassword<\/strong>:\u00a0your cPanel password;
\nPort<\/strong>: 21; ( or do not complete that field, it will go by default on 21 ) \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n

4)<\/strong> Click the “Quickconnect<\/strong>” button.<\/p>\n

Your computer connects to your web server. The directory of folders and files from your local computer appears on the left of the FileZilla FTP client window, and the directory of folders and files on your web server is displayed on the right.<\/p>\n

You can now transfer files and folders between your local computer and your hosting account by dragging them from the left pane to the right.<\/p>\n
