Using an\u00a0SSH connection you can easily manage or edit all your files and folders directly on the server.<\/p>\n<p>While there are a few different ways of logging into an SSH server in general, you can connect to your ChemiCloud server using SSH keys. SSH keys provide an easy, yet an extremely secure way of logging into your server, that why this is the method we recommend for all users.<\/p>\n<p>SSH key pairs are two cryptographically secure keys that are used to authenticate a client to a server, each key pair consists of a public key and a private key. Expand the \u201c<strong>SSH<\/strong>\u201d category from the left side and click on the \u201c<strong>Auth<\/strong>\u201d button.\u00a0From the right side window click on the <strong>&#8220;Browse&#8221;<\/strong> button and select downloaded private key, this key needs to have a *.ppk or *.txt extension. This can be <a href=\"https:\/\/chemicloud.com\/kb\/article\/generate-ssh-key\/#Downloadkey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">downloaded<\/a> directly from the cPanel account.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chemicloud.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Selection_013.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-613\" src=\"https:\/\/chemicloud.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Selection_013.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"586\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong>\u00a0Click on <strong>\u201cSession\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0tab located in the top left menu, and enter the \u201c<strong>IP<\/strong>\u201d and the port:<strong>1988<\/strong> (both are in your welcome letter \u2013 this may come as an IP address or a hostname).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> Under\u00a0<strong>\u201cSaved Sessions\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0enter a custom name which will be used to save this information fields. Click on the <strong>\u201cSave\u201d<\/strong> button to save all the settings so you don\u2019t need to add the key again next time you try to connect.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chemicloud.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/putty_ssh.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-615\" src=\"https:\/\/chemicloud.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/putty_ssh.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"575\" height=\"568\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0That\u2019s all you need to do, now just click \u201c<strong>Open<\/strong>\u201d and the server will ask you for the passphrase you have used for your SSH Key after you enter it you&#8217;ll connect to the server.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-connect-to-your-server-using-ssh-keys-in-windows-using-xshell\">How to Connect to Your Server Using SSH Keys in Windows Using xShell<\/h2>\n<p><a title=\"xShell\" href=\"https:\/\/www.netsarang.com\/en\/xshell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">xShell<\/a> is a preferred SSH application of many developers and is widely regarded as the most powerful SSH client available. The app is free for personal use and is very easy to setup.<\/p>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--info  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Important TIp:<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\tBe sure you&#8217;ve downloaded the private key you want to use from your SSH Access area in cPanel as you&#8217;ll need it to setup xShell.     \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<p>Step 1: Download the app from the xShell website. After the download is complete, open the app. The Sessions tab will open by default. Not the password that goes with the SSH user, i.e. your cPanel account.<\/p>\n<p>After that, make sure the checkbox next to Public Key is checked, then click Connect.<\/p>\n<p>Step 5: You will be prompted to accept the key of the server to which you&#8217;re connecting.
