In this tutorial, we will show you how to set up private nameservers on your hosting account using the WHM (Web Host Manager) interface.<\/p>\n

What is a private nameserver?<\/h3>\n

Setting up your own private nameservers has several benefits. While a set of a private nameserver will allow you to run your own name server which will respond to DNS requests, you can also use them for branding purposes. This feature is available exclusively on all our Reseller Hosting<\/a>\u00a0and VPS Hosting<\/a> plans.<\/p>\n

Using custom nameservers will hide the fact that your domain’s DNS requests are handled by our public nameservers, allowing the reseller to position themselves as the hosting company. For example, instead of pointing the domains at our generic nameservers, you could use private ones that look like:<\/p>\n \t\t

How to Set up Private Nameservers in WHM:<\/h3>\n

1) <\/strong>The first step is to\u00a0Log in to WHM<\/strong>. You can easily do so from your Client Area’s Dashboard<\/a> by clicking on the WHM<\/strong> button for your active reseller service.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong>\u00a0Once you are logged into WHM, click on the Basic WebHost Manager Setup<\/strong>\u00a0button located\u00a0on the left side menu.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Choose the second option “Explicitly Set the Nameservers<\/strong>” and enter the private nameservers you’d like to set:<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> You now need to create the DNS records for the nameservers you just created, there are two scenarios below.<\/p>\n

First scenario<\/strong>:\u00a0The domain you used for the nameservers is currently using ChemiCloud’s nameservers.<\/h4>\n

1)<\/strong> From WHM click on the DNS Zone Manager<\/strong>\u00a0button located under the DNS Functions section in the left side menu and select the domain name that you want to use for the custom nameservers.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> Click on the + A Record<\/strong> button and create the following 3 A records as shown in the image, using the following IP Addresses:<\/p>\n \t\t

Now that the private nameservers have been set up in WHM, the next step is to register the Nameservers with your Domain Registrar.<\/strong><\/p>\n
