This article will teach you how to back up or restore your WordPress instance using the WordPress Manager.<\/p>\n \t\t

When to Restore a WordPress Instance?<\/h3>\n
Let’s say you accidentally break your website (whoops). Or maybe your website got hacked. If any of these scenarios happens, you’ll wish you had a backup of your website to rely on. A copy of your website that allows you to go back in time and pretend this never happened.<\/div>\n

With daily offsite backups, you can restore up to\u00a030 days of backups<\/b> at any time. What’s more, you can easily choose what kind of restoration you’d like to do for your site, whether for the files, database, or entire WordPress instance.<\/p>\n \t\t

What’s the Difference Between a Local and Remote Backup?<\/h3>\n

Manual Backup (Local Backup):<\/strong> When you manually create a backup (on-demand), you can choose to back up your website files and database. This backup is stored locally on your Managed WordPress hosting storage.<\/p>\n

Automated Backup (Remote Backup):<\/strong> Automated backups happen in the background and are stored on a secure, remote server. These backups can be restored at any time, without using your hosting storage.<\/p>\n

Backup Retention Logic<\/h3>\n

When the backup retention limit has been reached: WordPress Manager\u00a0will not automatically delete an existing automatic backup to make room for a new manual backup.<\/p>\n

You must manually delete one or more existing backups (automatic or manual) before you can create a new manual backup.<\/p>\n \t\t

\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tThe system does not distinguish between automatic and manual backups when applying the limits \u2014 all backups count toward the same retention limit. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n

WordPress Manager will automatically delete the oldest automatic backup to make room for the new automatic backup.<\/p>\n

If a plan allows a\u00a0total of 25 backups, the system will automatically generate\u00a025 daily backups\u00a0by default\u2014even if the retention period is only 20 days. This setup intentionally provides extra room, allowing the user to delete up to 5 older backups without impacting the core 20-day retention window. Once deleted, those slots can be used to create manual backups, keeping the total within the allowed limit.<\/p>\n

How to Create a Manual Backup for your WordPress Instance<\/h3>\n \t\t

To create a manual backup<\/strong>\u00a0for your WordPress instance using the WordPress Manager, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

Step 1)<\/strong> Log in <\/strong>to the WordPress Manager.

After logging into your WordPress Manager, you’ll see a dashboard with all your instances.<\/p>\n

Step 2) <\/strong>Click on the “Manage site<\/strong>” button corresponding to the WordPress instance you wish to create a manual backup.<\/p>\n

How to Restore a Backup for your WordPress Instance<\/span><\/h3>\n
