You will learn how to generate a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) in cPanel, how to use it to obtain an SSL certificate and how to add it to our domain.<\/p>\n<article id=\"howto\">\n<h3 id=\"what-is-a-csr-and-why-would-i-need-to-generate-one\">What is a CSR and why would I need to generate one?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CSR<\/strong> stands for <strong>Certificate Signing Request<\/strong>. This is actually a preliminary step that any website owner must complete in order to obtain an SSL Certificate for their domain. The CSR form contains identification data about the company owning that domain, and other secure cryptographic information. You can also include the * wildcard if you want to use SSL for all subdomains\/pages associated with your domain. <strong>Note that this type of SSL Certificate will cost more than a traditional SSL Certificate.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>City<\/strong>, <strong>State<\/strong>, and <strong>Country <\/strong>are pretty much self-explanatory. You must state where your company is located and registered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Company Division: <\/strong>most likely IT or any other one will be just fine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Email: <\/strong>you must provide a valid Email address where your account ownership may be verified.<\/p>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>5.<\/strong> Click on the <strong>Generate <\/strong>button to create your CSR.
