Along with MailChannels engineers, we identified the cause of the issue and implemented a permanent fix. Everything is back to normal; therefore, we consider this incident resolved.


We've resolved the MailChannels hostname issue by directly pointing our servers to MailChannels IPs. This is a temporary fix to ensure uninterrupted email service until we manage to apply a permanent fix working along with MailChannels engineers. We are actively addressing a hostname resolver issue with our MailChannels-based outgoing email system. The problem where MailChannels fails to resolve its own hostname is being diligently worked on in collaboration with MailChannels' engineers. Final update: The migration of your website(s) to our new and improved cloud hosting infrastructure in Mumbai, India is now complete. We have finished copying all of your site(s) and email data to the new server.

If you are using our DNS, it means that we were able to automatically switch your domain(s) to the new server and the sites started resolving from the new server right away, and you don’t have to take any further action. 

In case you are using a third-party DNS provider (e.g. Cloudflare), we cannot automatically point your domain name to the new server, so we need your help!

The new server IP address is 172.105.42.216, and you’ll need to update your DNS records to replace the old one. We recommend that you proceed with these changes right away to avoid any problems or downtime to your site(s). 

Your new server hostname is rs2-mbi.serverhostgroup.com. If you were using the server hostname for your incoming and outgoing email servers, you need to update your email application server settings to your new server hostname. If you were using your domain for your mail server host, you don't have to change anything.

The accounts on the old server are still active at this time. We will follow up in 48 hours to shut down the old server once we'll ensure that everything is working as expected from the new server.

Issue: During the past 24 hours, our data center engineers have detected multiple large inbound Denial of Service attacks against your server in the Bangalore region. Due to the size and scale of the attacks, we have been forced to temporarily suspend network connectivity to this server, in an effort to mitigate these attacks.

In order to completely resolve this matter, we will start migrating your website(s) to our completely new and improved cloud hosting infrastructure in the Mumbai, India region. With this migration, you'll benefit from an advanced DDoS Protection service. Our new data center's global network is protected by advanced DDoS mitigation, helping to fend off larger attacks towards our infrastructure, keeping good traffic, and block the bad, with no increased latency and no routing of your traffic to a third party.

In addition to a better DDoS Protection service, our new cloud infrastructure is set up based on AMD EPYC 7501 CPUs. The new processor offers epic performance results across the industry, packing a benchmark that blows the standard packages in hosting out of the water.

IMPORTANT:

The migration will begin at 09:30 EDT and finish today. We will handle migrating your website and all of its data, including emails, and if are using our DNS, we will be able to automatically switch your domain(s) to the new server after the migration is complete. In case you are using a 3rd-party DNS system (e.g Cloudflare), you will have to point your domain to the new IP address of your server: 172.105.42.216

Resolved: We have identified the root cause of this issue. A configuration error resulted in mails between 3:20 PM UTC and 6:20 PM UTC being inadvertently quarantined. The quarantine system became overloaded, which caused delivery delays to continue for some time after the configuration error was corrected. We are releasing incorrectly quarantined emails, but it may be several hours before all such messages are released. 

Due to the delays introduced by this problem, some messages may have timed out of the queue. Non-delivery receipts are sent to the sender for all messages that time out this way.

Update: Mails in our queue from earlier this morning are slowly being delivered. It might take a few hours for all the queued mails to be delivered. All new emails are being delivered properly.

Update: We have scaled up our infrastructure to handle the emails that may have backed up. We are continuing to investigate and fix the root cause.

Our Engineering team has confirmed that the outage from the affected backbone provider has been resolved. However, as a precautionary measure, our Engineering team will continue to monitor the situation overnight before utilizing this provider again for network traffic. In the meantime, please open a support ticket if you continue to experience any issues. 


Our Engineering team is aware of further disruption impacting our NYC1 region, due to the disruption from a major internet backbone provider. Users may have experienced outages with networking for servers in our NYC1 region. Our Engineering team has applied a fix to route around the disruption, and at this time, services in our NYC1 region should be starting to operate normally. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely, and we will share more information as it becomes available.


We are aware that disruption from a major Internet backbone provider has caused networking issues in multiple regions, including SFO1, SFO2, NYC1, NYC2, NYC3, and LON1. Our upstream provider has taken steps to route traffic away from this provider.

ChemiCloud users may have experienced issues or bad performance, including significant packet loss, with networking in these regions. While the workaround in place should mitigate these issues, users may continue to experience packet loss until the issue is fully resolved at the provider level.

We're continuing to monitor the situation, and our Engineers will continue to take proactive efforts to workaround this disruption.

This is just a reminder to let you know that on the night of August 29th to August 30th we will relocate our servers on Bucharest location to another data center in Bucharest. We are making this move to improve the performance of the services offered to our customers.

The hosting services that are on the Bucharest server location will suffer a period of downtime during the following relocation window:

Start: Wednesday, Aug 30, 2017, 00:30 UTC+2
End: Wednesday, Aug 30, 2017, 05:30 UTC+2

What will we improve with this relocation?

- Better connected network

- DDOS protection up to 100Gbs

- IPv6 network

- Switching to our own AS number

- Our direct contact with the non-stop technician team in the data center

- Growth space for new servers and services

The relocation involves shutting down servers, dismantling, loading, transporting them and mounting into new racks. In order to mount the servers as quickly as possible, new data cables, power cables, and new server rails are already positioned in the new racks.

Our data center partner will handle the entire move and no action is required on your part!

We've allocated 5 hours for this relocation, but if everything goes according to plan, the relocation should be completed under 5 hours.

We are currently facing issues with the AutoSSL service on all our servers. This is happening because our systems are communicating with Let's Encrypt servers and they just reported some problems with the OCSP responders. During this period, none of our customer's services are affected, the only problem is that any account that will be created from now on, will not obtain an SSL certificate automatically and customers must wait until Let's Encrypt will resolve this issue. We apologize for this inconvenience and we will continue to keep this thread updated.
