How to Easily Install Drupal in cPanel

Follow these steps to install Drupal in cPanel / WHM with Softaculous:

1) Login into your cPanel.

2) Scroll down to the Software section and click on the Softaculous icon.

3) Click on the Drupal logo. This will open a screen with several options,  click on the Install link.

4) On the Install screen in the Software Setup section do the following:

  • Choose the version you’d like to install (7 or later is preferred)
  • Protocol can be left unchanged unless you have a SSL certificate installed on the domain or prefer the ‘www’ prefix to exist for the site address
  • Choose your target domain from the dropdown menu
  • If you would like to have the software installed in the root of your domain, leave ‘In Directory’ empty, otherwise input directory name relative to the domain’s folder
  • Leave Database name as is unless you’d like a different name
  • The CRON job field can be safely left empty unless you’d like cron to run at different times (defaults recommended)

5) In the Site Settings section modify Site Name as desired (can also be modified in the Drupal dashboard later)

6) In the Database Settings section leave the Table Prefix information as is, unless you’d like a different prefix

7) The Database Settings can be left with defaults unless you’d like a different database table prefix or sample data imported

8) In the Admin Account section do the following:

  • Important! Change the administrative username to something other than ‘admin’ to minimize the risk of someone guessing it
  • Choose a strong password for Admin password, or click the Key icon to generate a random password
  • Enter a working email address for the Admin email

9) Click the Install button

10) Login address will be displayed once the install is complete.

11) After you’ve completed the installation be sure to check out the latest Drupal vulnerabilities database, as this will help you decide which modules are best for you to use on your site.
