Horde and Roundcube both provide options for importing and exporting your address book, which is super handy if you prefer to use webmail instead of an application like Outlook, Windows Mail, or Apple Mail.
This article will help you import and export contacts in Webmail using Horde or RoundCube.
How to Import Contacts In Webmail
How to Import Contacts In Horde
The process top import in Horde is a bit more involved than Roundcube, considering Horde is primarily used as groupware software for businesses and organizations to collaborate and it has some advanced features.
Step 1: Log in to your Webmail. There’s a lot of ways to do this but usually, the easiest is to visit https://www.yourdomain.com/webmail

Step 2: Once Horde is open, click the Address Book tab at the top. When the Address Book page opens, click Import/Export from the menu on the left.

Step 3: Next, the Import Address Book screen will open.

Ensure the format of the source file is set to a comma-separated value, in step 1.
Then choose the file from your computer.
Finally, click next.
Step 4: The next screen is the Import Step 2 process. This screen asks you to validate some information regarding the CSV file you are using to import the contacts. Typically the default settings are fine and you can continue by clicking Next.

Step 5: Part three of the import process in Horde will prompt you for some customizations which you can do, however, most of the time these aren’t necessary unless you want to customize them.
You can proceed by clicking Next. This will complete the import.

Step 6: You should see a green text box appear in the bottom right corner saying the CSV file successfully imported.

To test if your contacts are there, click Browse in the top left corner.

As you can see, the one contact I imported from my CSV file imported successfully!
How to Import Contacts In Roundcube
Importing contacts into Roundcube is arguably an easier process than Horde.
Step 1: Log in to your Webmail. There’s a lot of ways to do this but usually, the easiest is to visit https://www.yourdomain.com/webmail

Step 2: Click Contacts on the left of Roundcube.

Step 3: On the Contacts page, click Import in the menu from the top.

Step 4: In the modal that appears, choose your contacts.csv file and click the blue-ish import button.

After importing, you will see a screen that confirms how many of your contacts were imported.

Just click the x in the top right corner to go back to the Contacts list.
And that’s it! Now you’ve imported your Contacts into RoundCube.
How to Export Contacts in Webmail
How to export contacts in Horde
Step 1: Log in to your Webmail. There’s a lot of ways to do this but usually, the easiest is to visit https://www.yourdomain.com/webmail

Step 2: Once Horde is open, click the Address Book tab at the top. When the Address Book page opens, click Import/Export from the menu on the left.

Step 3: Next, the Import / Export Address Book screen will open.
Beneath the Export Address Book section, ensure the format is set to Comma Separated Values and ensure the address book you’re exporting is the one called Address Book, not Shared Address Book.

Then click Export. A file called contacts.csv will automatically be saved to your system.
That’s it! Now you have exported your contacts from Horde.
How to export contacts in RoundCube
Step 1: Log in to your Webmail. There’s a lot of ways to do this but usually, the easiest is to visit https://www.yourdomain.com/webmail

Step 2: Click Contacts on the left of RoundCube.

Step 3: In the menu at the top, click the downward-facing triangle next to Export and click Export All.

A file called contacts.csv will be downloaded and saved to your computer!
That’s it! Now you have exported all of your contacts from RoundCube.
