We make reseller hosting, and we compete with hosting.com. This page compares hosting.com’s cPanel reseller plans with five alternatives, ours included, and it’s honest about when hosting.com’s own Enhance plans, or staying put, are the better move.
Hosting.com is the company that used to trade as A2 Hosting. If you bought reseller hosting from A2, this page is about your plan.
It covers reseller hosting only. If you host your own website on hosting.com’s shared, WordPress or VPS plans, our web hosting plans are the better comparison. And if you don’t have hosting clients yet, start with our guide to starting a reseller hosting business.
The short answer (verified 6 October 2026): first decide whether you need cPanel. If your clients rarely log in to their control panel, hosting.com’s own Enhance plans may cost less than any cPanel host, us included. If you do need cPanel, switching can cut the renewal cost per client account and get billing software included. It won’t get you more phone support, longer backup retention or bigger plans than hosting.com already offers. The quickest test is renewal price per cPanel account, worked out for every plan below.

- On hosting.com’s Enhance plans? You’ve already left cPanel. If you want to go back to it, we can migrate Enhance accounts into cPanel accounts too, and the checklist applies.

Hosting.com reseller hosting at a glance
Hosting.com sells two reseller lines. Its main reseller page leads with the Enhance plans, which it describes as its flagship. The cPanel/WHM line comes in twelve sizes, from 15 to 300 client accounts.
| cPanel line | Reseller 30 | Reseller 60 | Reseller 120 | Reseller 150 | Reseller 200 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| cPanel accounts | 30 | 60 | 120 | 150 | 200 |
| Storage (NVMe) | 100 GB | 180 GB | 360 GB | 500 GB | 600GB |
| First term → renewal ($/mo, annual) | $20.42 → $40.83 | $32.92 → $65.83 | $53.75 → $107.50 | $66.25 → $132.50 | $190.83 |
| Renewal per cPanel account | $1.36 | $1.10 | $0.91 | $0.88 | $0.95 |
Prices in USD at annual billing, checked 29 September–6 October 2026. Hosting.com’s sales team confirmed the introductory discount applies to the first term only. Its pricing loads in the browser and changes with promotions, so check the live page before you buy.
The discount pattern matters more than the headline price. Five sizes (30, 50, 60, 120 and 150 accounts) are half price for the first term and double at renewal. The other seven have no first-term discount and no renewal step. Two resellers on the same provider, one on Reseller 25 and one on Reseller 30, have very different renewal experiences.
The rest, in brief. Each cPanel account gets 2 GB of memory and 1 CPU on Reseller 30 and 2 GB of memory and 2 CPUs for Reseller 60 and above. Backups run daily and are kept for 30 days. LiteSpeed, CloudLinux, Monarx malware scanning and Softaculous are on every plan. Billing software (WHMCS) isn’t included; you buy it separately. Dedicated IPs are a $10-a-month add-on. Support runs 24/7 by phone, chat and ticket. Migrations are free, the money-back guarantee is 30 days, and VPS and dedicated servers sit above the reseller line.
First question: do you need cPanel?
This decision changes every comparison on the page, so it comes first.
Hosting.com’s Enhance plans are a different product on a different control panel. They renew at the price you start on, with no first-term discount to lose. Hosting.com’s explanation for the gap is licensing: cPanel charges hosting companies per account, and Enhance doesn’t. At 30 accounts the difference is large.
| 30 client accounts | Panel | Storage | Renewal ($/mo) | Renewal per account |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| hosting.com Enhance E30 | Enhance | 100 GB | $18.25 | $0.61 |
| hosting.com Reseller 30 | cPanel | 100 GB | $40.83 | $1.36 |
| ChemiCloud Kickstart (40 accounts) | cPanel | 60 GB | $34.95 | $0.87 |
| ChemiCloud Kickstart (60 accounts) | cPanel | 40 GB | $34.95 | $0.58 |
Annual billing, checked 6 October 2026. Enhance E30 price.
For a book of exactly 30 clients, Enhance E30 costs about half our Kickstart renewal each month. Our per-account figure only catches up because Kickstart holds more accounts.
Enhance is probably the better move, and you should stay with hosting.com, if:
- your clients rarely log in to their control panel themselves
- you don’t rely on WHM-specific workflows
- none of your clients run Python or Django apps (hosting.com told us Enhance supports PHP and Node.js natively, but not Python or Django)
- you’re happy to learn a new panel and help clients through it.
Moving between hosting.com’s lines is an in-house migration, and hosting.com told us it’s free.
cPanel is worth paying for if:
- clients manage their own email, files or installs in cPanel and would need retraining
- you run Python or Django apps through CloudLinux’s selector
- your billing automation and support routines are built around WHM
- you might sell the book one day. A buyer will usually expect cPanel. Here’s what goes into selling a hosting book.
If you’re weighing the panel itself, our guide to cPanel and WHM for resellers covers what you’d keep and what you’d give up. If you’ve decided on cPanel, the rest of this page is for you.
Why resellers on hosting.com’s cPanel plans look elsewhere
Each reason below comes with a straight answer: will a different host actually fix it?
The renewal doubling on discounted sizes
If you’re on Reseller 30, 50, 60, 120 or 150, your renewal is twice what you paid in the first term. Switching changes the size of that step. It doesn’t remove it: most cPanel hosts compared here step up between about 1.75× and 2.4×.
The number that differs is renewal price per cPanel account. Reseller 30 renews at $1.36 per account per month; most alternatives come in under that at the same size. From 100 accounts up, hosting.com’s figure falls to around $0.90 and the gap narrows. If you pass hosting costs on to clients, a lower renewal per account is what keeps you from raising your clients’ prices.
cPanel raises its licence prices every January, and the cost reaches resellers eventually. Hosting.com and ChemiCloud both told us they hold a reseller’s price until the end of the term you’ve paid for. Ask any host the same question before you buy. To see what the next increase means for your book, try our cPanel price increase calculator.
Billing software costs extra
Hosting.com’s reseller plans don’t include WHMCS. You buy a licence on top, every month, for as long as you resell.
This is a reason switching fixes. Four of the five alternatives here include billing software on at least some plans. ChemiCloud includes Blesta on Kickstart and WHMCS from Grow upward, InMotion and GreenGeeks include WHMCS Starter, and HostPapa includes WHMCS or ClientExec from Gold. Our comparison of reseller hosting with free WHMCS goes through each one. If the plan you’re looking at includes Blesta rather than WHMCS, read WHMCS vs Blesta first.
Resources per client account
Each cPanel account has a ceiling on memory and CPU, and a site that hits it slows down. Hosting.com’s is 2 GB and 1 CPU for Reseller 30 and 2 GB and 2 CPUs for Reseller 60 and above. The alternatives here range from 1 GB to 3 GB, and HostPapa lets you set limits yourself. A higher ceiling isn’t speed; it’s headroom for busy sites at peak times. For most small brochure sites, it won’t decide anything.
Backups
Hosting.com backs up daily and keeps 30 days of copies. That’s solid, and on its own it’s not a reason to leave. The question worth asking any host is whether you can restore one client’s account yourself from WHM, or have to open a ticket. That decides how fast you can fix a client’s mistake at 9pm. There’s more on who’s responsible when a client deletes their site.
You were on an A2 Hosting plan
Hosting.com told us that existing legacy A2 Hosting reseller plans (like Kickstart, Launch, Grow, or Scale) continue to keep their original resources and pricing until you choose to switch or an official retirement notice is issued.
Check which plan you’re on now and what it renews at; that figure, not your original A2 price, is the one to compare below.
You’ve outgrown 200 cPanel accounts
Hosting.com’s cPanel line goes to 200 accounts, with larger plans by arrangement and VPS and dedicated servers above that, all with one provider. Most alternatives here stop well below 200. Our largest reseller plan holds 200 accounts, and we don’t sell root VPS or dedicated servers. If you’re near the top of hosting.com’s range, read outgrowing reseller hosting before you look elsewhere.
Does switching fix it?
| Why you’re looking | Does switching fix it? | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Renewal doubles | Partly. Compare renewal per account, not the multiple | Plan match below, or hosting.com’s Enhance line |
| cPanel licensing cost | Only if you leave cPanel | Hosting.com’s Enhance line |
| Billing software costs extra | Yes | ChemiCloud, InMotion, GreenGeeks; HostPapa from Gold |
| Per-account resources | Somewhat | ChemiCloud, Verpex; HostPapa to set your own |
| Backups | Usually not; 30 days is solid | Ask about single-account self-restore |
| Moved off a legacy A2 plan | Depends on your new renewal | Plan match below |
| More than 300 accounts | No | Hosting.com’s larger plans or VPS |
Reasons to stay with hosting.com
Some of hosting.com’s reseller features are better than ours. If two or more of these are why you chose it, switching may cost you more than it saves.
- Phone support, 24/7, on every reseller plan. We support resellers by chat and ticket only.
- 30 days of daily backups.
- The Enhance line, without changing provider, if you can leave cPanel. The in-house move is free.
- Room to grow. Twelve cPanel sizes from 15 to 300 accounts, larger plans on request, and VPS or dedicated servers with root access above that. We stop at 200 accounts and don’t offer root access.
- No renewal step on the non-discounted sizes.
- Dedicated IPs if you need them, as a $10-a-month add-on. We don’t offer them.
- No notices to your clients in hosting.com’s name. Hosting.com told us suspension, abuse and quota notices don’t go to end clients.
- The same core technology as the better alternatives. LiteSpeed, CloudLinux and malware scanning are on every plan, as they are on ours. Switching won’t buy you a different class of server software.
- A wide spread of server locations. The cPanel line runs from North America (including Mexico) to the UK, Germany, Singapore, Australia and India. Ours covers much of the same ground, plus South Korea and the US West Coast, but not Mexico.
The alternatives compared
We compared hosting.com with ChemiCloud and the four other cPanel/WHM reseller hosts we cover across this series: InMotion, GreenGeeks, HostPapa and Verpex. SiteGround also sells reseller-style plans, but on its own control panel rather than cPanel, so it isn’t a like-for-like move.
Each row shows the provider’s plan closest to Reseller 30, the most common discounted size. Where a provider has no plan that size, the row shows the smallest plan that fits 30 accounts. Hosting.com’s Enhance E30 is included as a reference, marked “not cPanel”.
| Plan | Accounts | Storage | Intro → renewal ($/mo) | Renewal per account | Billing software | Backups | Per-account memory / CPU | Phone on this plan | Dedicated IP | Refund window | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| hosting.com | Reseller 30 | 30 | 100 GB NVMe | $20.42 → $40.83 | $1.36 | Not included | Daily, kept 30 days | 2 GB / 1 CPU | Yes | $10/mo add-on | 30 days |
| hosting.com (not cPanel) | Enhance E30 | 30 | 100 GB | $18.25 → $18.25 | $0.61 | Connects to WHMCS, Blesta, Upmind | Daily | 2 GB / 1 CPU | Yes | Not stated | 30 days |
| ChemiCloud | Kickstart | 40 (or 60*) | 60 GB NVMe (or 40 GB*) | $17.95 → $34.95 | $0.87 (or $0.58*) | Blesta (WHMCS from Grow) | Daily, retained, self-restore per account | 3 GB / 2 CPU | No | No | 45 days |
| InMotion | R-2000N | 50 | 160 GB NVMe | $26.99 → $55.99 | $1.12 | WHMCS Starter | Backup Manager add-on, $2.99/mo | 1 GB / 1 CPU | Yes | 2 | 90 days (6-month+ terms) |
| GreenGeeks | RH-50 | 50 | 80 GB SSD | $24.95 → $49.95 | $1.00 | WHMCS Starter, on request | Nightly, kept 24 hours | 1 GB / not published | Yes | Not listed | 30 days |
| HostPapa | Silver | 40 | 100 GB NVMe | $22.95 → $44.99 | $1.12 | None (from Gold) | Disaster-recovery only; website backups extra | You set per account | Yes | 2 | 30 days |
| Verpex (same group as hosting.com) | Reseller 30 | 30 | 100 GB NVMe | $20.58 → $49.00 | $1.63 | None | Daily, up to twice a day | 2 GB / 2 CPU | Yes | Not listed | 30 days |
*ChemiCloud’s accounts-optimised Kickstart: 60 accounts and 40 GB at the same price as the storage-optimised version. Monthly prices in USD at a 12-month term, checked 1–6 October 2026 on each provider’s own pages, with hosting.com and InMotion details confirmed by their sales teams. Introductory rates apply to the first term only. InMotion’s smallest plan holds 25 accounts, so R-2000N is the smallest that fits 30.
At renewal, every cPanel alternative except Verpex costs less per account than hosting.com’s Reseller 30. Hosting.com’s own Enhance E30 is cheaper than all of them except our accounts-optimised Kickstart, and cheaper than every one of them in total monthly cost for a 30-client book. Storage pulls the other way for us: our Kickstart has less than Reseller 30’s 100 GB, so if your clients’ sites are large, compare storage per account as well.
The alternatives, one by one
Every provider gets the same treatment: what you’d gain compared with hosting.com’s cPanel line, and what you’d give up. That includes us.
ChemiCloud (our plans)
Best if you’re leaving hosting.com because of: the renewal doubling, billing software you pay for separately, or per-account resources.
What you gain. More accounts for the money at most sizes: ChemiCloud’s Kickstart has 40 accounts (storage-optimised) or 60 (accounts-optimised) at the same price. Billing software is included: Blesta on Kickstart, WHMCS from Grow upward. Each account gets up to 3 GB of memory and 2 CPUs. We keep daily backups, and you can restore a single client’s cPanel account yourself.
We migrate your whole book for free, however many accounts it has, from hosting.com’s cPanel or Enhance plans. We also move your existing WHMCS or Blesta installation and its database onto the licence included with your plan, at no cost. Support is 24/7, by people, with no AI chatbots. Node.js and Python apps run through CloudLinux’s selector, and LiteSpeed is on every plan. We hold your price until the end of the term you’ve paid for, and month-to-month billing is available.
What you give up. Phone support: we offer chat and tickets only, because we’ve found we resolve issues faster that way. Plans above 200 accounts, and a root VPS or dedicated server to grow into. Dedicated IPs, which we don’t offer. A server in Mexico.
Renewal reality. Kickstart is $17.95 a month on a 12-month term and $34.95 at renewal, about 1.95×. Grow is $19.95 and renews at $45.95.
Two things to know at setup. Quota, suspension and abuse notices go to the contact email set on each cPanel account, so set it to your own address, not the client’s. And going over your plan’s bandwidth limit suspends the account rather than slowing it down.
| hosting.com Reseller 30 vs ChemiCloud Kickstart | hosting.com | ChemiCloud |
|---|---|---|
| cPanel accounts | 30 | 40 or 60 |
| Renewal per account | $1.36 | $0.87 or $0.58 |
| Billing software | Paid extra | Blesta included (WHMCS from Grow) |
| Per-account memory / CPU | 2 GB / 1 CPU | 3 GB / 2 CPU |
| Phone support | Yes | No (chat and ticket) |
| Refund window | 30 days | 45 days |
| Largest reseller plan | 300 accounts | 200 accounts |

InMotion Hosting
Best if you’re leaving hosting.com because of: billing software, and you want WHMCS included on every plan along with phone support.
What you gain. WHMCS Starter on every reseller plan, phone support from R-2000N upward, dedicated IPs included (two on R-2000N), an eNom domain reseller account, and a 90-day money-back guarantee on 6-month and longer terms, the longest on this page.
What you give up. Plan sizes: InMotion’s smallest plan holds 25 accounts and its largest 100. Per-account resources of 1 GB and 1 CPU, half of hosting.com’s memory. Backups, which are a Backup Manager add-on at $2.99 a month. Servers in three regions: US East, US West and EU Central.
Renewal reality. R-2000N: $26.99 → $55.99 on a 12-month term. If InMotion is on your shortlist, our page on InMotion reseller alternatives covers its plans in more detail.
GreenGeeks
Best if you’re leaving hosting.com because of: billing software and the renewal step, at small to mid sizes.
What you gain. WHMCS Starter on request, phone support on every plan, an eNom domain reseller account, and green-energy matching agencies can pass on. RH-50 renews at $1.00 per account, about a quarter less than Reseller 30.
What you give up. Backups are nightly and kept for 24 hours, against hosting.com’s 30 days, so a problem noticed on day two can’t be rolled back from GreenGeeks’ copy. Free migration covers up to 30 cPanel accounts. The largest plan, RH-80, stops at 80 accounts. The refund window is 30 days, the same as hosting.com’s.
Renewal reality. RH-50: $24.95 → $49.95 on a 12-month term.
HostPapa
Best if you’re leaving hosting.com because of: wanting to set CPU and memory limits for each client yourself.
What you gain. Per-account resource limits that you assign, which no other host here offers. Two dedicated IPs included on every plan, an OpenSRS domain reseller account, free migrations with no stated account limit, and 24/7 phone, chat and email support in four languages.
What you give up. Billing software starts on Gold, so on Silver you’re in the same position as at hosting.com. Backups: the plans include disaster-recovery backups, and automated website backups you can restore yourself cost extra. That’s a step down from hosting.com’s 30 days of daily copies.
Renewal reality. Silver: $22.95 → $44.99 on a 12-month term.
Verpex
Best if you’re leaving hosting.com because of: per-account resources, and you don’t need billing software.
What you gain. 2 GB of memory and 2 CPUs per account, daily backups (up to twice a day), unbranded nameservers and server hostnames, 24/7 phone support, and free migrations with no stated limit. Verpex renews at the same price whatever term you choose.
What you give up. Billing software, which isn’t included, so nothing changes there. And at 30 accounts, Verpex’s renewal step is the largest on this page: Reseller 30 renews above hosting.com’s Reseller 30 per account.
Renewal reality. Reseller 30: $20.58 → $49.00. Reseller 60: $27.60 → $69.00.
Matching your hosting.com plan to an alternative
Find your hosting.com plan, then read across. Each cell shows the smallest plan that fits the same number of accounts, with its renewal price per month and per account.
| Your plan (accounts, storage) | Renewal per account | ChemiCloud | InMotion | GreenGeeks | HostPapa | Verpex |

| Reseller 200 (200, 600 GB) | $0.95–$1.00 | 200 accounts only: Established (accounts-optimised), 100 GB†→ $0.39. Nothing above 200 | No plan this size | No plan this size | No plan this size | No plan this size |
Renewal price per month at a 12-month term, divided by the plan’s cPanel accounts. Checked 1–6 October 2026; hosting.com figures on publication day. †Well below hosting.com’s storage at the same size. Where storage matters, size up: at 30 accounts, Grow (60 accounts, 120 GB) renews at $0.77 per account; at 60 accounts, Expand (90 accounts, 160 GB) renews at $0.69. Above 130 accounts, our only option is the accounts-optimised Established, with 100 GB, which suits a book of many small sites, not one with large ones. ChemiCloud’s accounts-optimised plans have more accounts and less storage at the same price: Kickstart 60 accounts and 40 GB ($0.58), Grow 90 and 60 GB ($0.51), Expand 140 and 90 GB ($0.44), Established 200 and 100 GB ($0.39).
Three things stand out.
- On small books, compare the monthly total too. Per account, most alternatives beat Reseller 15. In total, only Verpex’s Reseller 15 costs less each month. If you have 15 clients and no plans to grow, staying may be cheapest.
- The discounted mid sizes are where switching saves most. At 30 and 60 accounts, most alternatives renew below hosting.com per account.
- From 100 accounts up, hosting.com is competitive on price and well ahead on storage. Above 150 accounts, few alternatives have a plan at all.
Where we’d send you elsewhere
We’d rather you move once, to the right host, than move to us and leave in six months.
- Your clients don’t need cPanel: stay with hosting.com and move to its Enhance line.
- You’re past 200 accounts or need root access: stay with hosting.com, which goes to 300 accounts on the cPanel line and offers VPS and dedicated servers above it.
- You have a small book and no plans to grow: at 15 accounts, staying on Reseller 15 or moving to Verpex’s Reseller 15 costs less per month than anything else here.
- You want phone support: stay with hosting.com, or look at InMotion, GreenGeeks, HostPapa or Verpex. We support by chat and ticket only.
- You want WHMCS on every plan and the longest refund window: InMotion.
- You want to set CPU and memory limits for each client yourself: HostPapa.
- You need a server in Mexico: stay with hosting.com.
How to switch from hosting.com without your clients noticing
You’ve decided to move. The order matters more than the speed. These steps follow the sequence our migrations team uses; the detail for each is in our guide to migrating client sites without downtime.
- Start four to six weeks before your hosting.com renewal date, and don’t cancel anything yet. You’ll pay for a few weeks of overlap. That’s cheaper than a rushed move.
- List everything in the book. cPanel accounts, client domains and where each is registered, mailboxes, cron jobs, Node.js or Python apps, and anything that depends on a dedicated IP.
- Sort out billing. Your WHMCS or Blesta licence was bought separately, so check whether it’s tied to your hosting.com account or is yours to move. Either way, the installation and its data are yours: take a full export first. If you’re moving to ChemiCloud, we’ll move the installation and database onto the licence included with your plan at no cost (Blesta on Kickstart, WHMCS from Grow). If you’re switching between the two, read WHMCS vs Blesta before deciding.
- Check where client domains are registered. Hosting.com doesn’t bundle a domain reseller account, so your clients’ domains are at whichever registrar you or they chose. They don’t need to move with the hosting. If you want to consolidate them, do it later as a separate project, and never let a domain transfer overlap the hosting move.
- Set up private nameservers at the new host first. If your clients already point at your own nameservers, you change the glue records once and the whole book follows. Here’s how private nameservers work.
- Migrate and test each account before touching DNS. Check each site on the new server using a hosts-file entry or a temporary URL.
- Deal with any dedicated IPs. If you’ve paid for hosting.com’s dedicated IP add-on, ask whether you can keep the address after you leave, and plan as if you can’t. Most sites need nothing, but check firewall allow-lists, payment gateway settings and any DNS records that point at the IP directly.
- Prepare email. Lower DNS TTLs a day ahead and confirm SPF records include the new host’s mail servers.
- Tell your clients before, not after. A short note about the date and what they might notice saves most of the questions. Here’s how to tell clients about a hosting change, and what to say if something goes down.
- Switch DNS, then follow up. The most common problem our migrations team sees after a move is a DNS change that’s been left undone. Chase every client whose domain doesn’t point at you yet.
- Cancel hosting.com last. Do it only when every account, mailbox and domain is confirmed working on the new host and you’ve taken a final full backup.Moving to hosting.com’s Enhance line instead? It’s a migration too, from one control panel to another, even though it stays in-house. Ask hosting.com whether your private nameservers carry over, then test client email, logins and any apps before you switch DNS.
FAQ
Is hosting.com the same company as A2 Hosting?
Yes. A2 Hosting now trades as hosting.com, and hosting.com told us legacy A2 reseller plans have been moved onto its current plans.
What’s the difference between hosting.com’s cPanel and Enhance reseller plans?
The control panel. The cPanel plans give you WHM and your clients cPanel. Enhance plans use Enhance’s own panel, renew at the starting price, and cost less because there’s no per-account cPanel licence, but don’t natively support Python or Django. See do you need cPanel?
Why does my hosting.com reseller plan cost twice as much at renewal?
Five sizes (30, 50, 60, 120 and 150 accounts) are half price for the first term only. The other sizes have no first-term discount and no step. To compare fairly, divide the renewal price by your number of accounts; the plan match does this for every size. Our look at the cheapest reseller hosting explains what low first-term prices usually leave out.
Can I move my hosting.com reseller accounts to another host without downtime?
Yes, if you test every account before changing DNS and cancel last. Our migration guide covers the steps.
What happens to my WHMCS or Blesta licence if I leave hosting.com?
You bought it separately, so check whether it’s tied to your hosting.com account. The installation and its data are yours either way; export them first. ChemiCloud moves both onto the licence included with your new plan at no cost.
Is there a cheaper alternative to hosting.com’s Reseller 30 at renewal?
Per account, yes: ChemiCloud, GreenGeeks, InMotion and HostPapa all renew for less per account at the nearest size. In total monthly cost, hosting.com’s own Enhance E30 is cheaper than any of them, if you can leave cPanel.
Staying on cPanel? Our migrations team moves every client account from hosting.com into your new WHM for free, however many you have, along with your WHMCS or Blesta installation. Billing software is included with your plan, and we hold your price until the end of the term you pay for.
