We make reseller hosting, and we compete with GreenGeeks. This page compares GreenGeeks’ reseller plans with five alternatives, ours included, and it’s honest about when staying with GreenGeeks is the better call.
It covers reseller hosting only. If you host your own website on GreenGeeks’ shared, WordPress or VPS plans, our web hosting plans are the better comparison. And if you don’t have hosting clients yet, start with our guide to starting a reseller hosting business.
The short answer (verified 6 October 2026): compare two things, not the price you started on: what you pay per client account at renewal, and how easily you can restore a client’s site when something goes wrong. Switching can improve both on RH-50 and RH-80. On RH-25, GreenGeeks is hard to beat if you need WHMCS. Switching won’t get you phone support, a bundled domain reseller account or GreenGeeks’ energy-matching programme.
- On GreenGeeks now? Start with the green question, then why resellers switch, the plan-by-plan match and the switching checklist.
- Comparing before you buy? Read the green question and the comparison table. Our roundup of the best reseller hosting covers more ground.
- Running more than 80 accounts? Go straight to outgrowing RH-80, then the plan match.
GreenGeeks reseller hosting at a glance
GreenGeeks sells three cPanel/WHM reseller plans, named after the number of client accounts they hold.
| RH-25 | RH-50 | RH-80 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| cPanel accounts | 25 | 50 | 80 |
| Storage (SSD) | 60 GB | 80 GB | 160 GB |
| Monthly transfer | 600 GB | 800 GB | 1,600 GB |
| Memory / CPU per account | 1 GB / 2 CPU | 1 GB / 2 CPU | 1 GB / 2 CPU |
| First term → renewal ($/mo, 12-month term) | $19.95 → $34.95 | $24.95 → $49.95 | $34.95 → $69.95 |
| Renewal per cPanel account | $1.40 | $1.00 | $0.87 |
Prices in USD, verified 6 October 2026 on GreenGeeks’ reseller page. Per-account resources confirmed by GreenGeeks’ sales team.
The rest, in brief. Every plan includes WHMCS and an eNom domain reseller account, along with private nameservers and white-label branding. Support runs 24/7 by phone, chat and email. Free migration covers up to 30 cPanel accounts. GreenGeeks’ servers are in four locations, and the money-back guarantee is 30 days, for the first term only.
Is green hosting part of what you sell?
Answer this first: it’s the one thing a spec table won’t show you.
GreenGeeks matches its energy use three times over by buying renewable energy through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. It plants a tree for every hosting account with One Tree Planted, and it has been recognised as a US EPA Green Power Partner since 2009. Matching works through renewable energy bought for the grid, not by changing the servers your clients’ sites run on. What it gives you is a credible claim to make to clients.
If that claim is in your proposals, on your clients’ sites or in your tender answers, moving host means rewriting it. That’s a real cost, and only you can weigh it.
Among the alternatives on this page:
- HostPapa runs a company-wide programme closest to GreenGeeks’: it buys green-energy certificates to match its consumption and offers customers a “Go Green” badge for their sites (HostPapa’s green hosting page).
- InMotion describes its data centres as green and says it opened the first green data centre in Los Angeles. That’s a facility-level claim rather than an energy-matching programme.
- ChemiCloud (us): we don’t run an energy-matching programme of our own, and we don’t offer a badge or certificate you can show clients. The data-centre providers we use run green initiatives of their own, but those are their programmes, not something you can put in a client proposal under our name.
If green hosting is part of your pitch, GreenGeeks or HostPapa will serve you better than we will. If it isn’t, read on.
Why resellers on GreenGeeks look elsewhere
Each reason below comes with a straight answer: will a different host actually fix it?
RH-50 and RH-80 double at renewal
GreenGeeks’ renewal step depends on the plan. RH-25 renews at 1.75× its first-term price, the gentlest step of any plan in this comparison that includes WHMCS. RH-50 and RH-80 renew at exactly double.
Switching changes the size of that step, not whether there is one: most hosts here step up between 1.75× and 2.4×. The number that matters is renewal price per cPanel account: $1.40 on RH-25, $1.00 on RH-50 and $0.87 on RH-80. On that measure GreenGeeks is already one of the cheaper hosts here; the plan match shows every row. If you pass hosting costs on to clients, that figure decides whether you end up raising your clients’ prices. Our look at the cheapest reseller hosting explains what low first-term prices usually leave out.
GreenGeeks’ terms allow price changes after the initial term, with notice, and cPanel raises its licence prices every January. Ask any host whether a term you’ve paid for is protected; we hold a reseller’s price to the end of the paid term. To see what the next increase means for your book, try our cPanel price increase calculator.
Does switching fix it? On RH-50 and RH-80, it can lower the cost per account. On RH-25 with WHMCS, there’s little to gain on price.
Restoring a client’s site
GreenGeeks’ reseller page and terms describe a nightly copy kept for 24 hours for disaster recovery. Its sales team told us something better: reseller backups run daily and are kept for 30 days. So retention isn’t the issue. Restoring is.
GreenGeeks told us resellers can’t restore a client’s account themselves. You open a ticket; the first restore each month is free, later ones are charged. For an agency with 50 clients, a bad plugin update on Tuesday and a deleted folder on Thursday means the second restore costs money and waits on a ticket.
With us, backups also run daily and are kept for 30 days, and you can restore a single client’s account yourself from WHM, any time, or ask our team to do it. There’s more on who’s responsible when a client deletes their site.
Does switching fix it? Yes, if you restore more than once a month or want to do it yourself.
How much each client account gets
GreenGeeks gives every cPanel account a fixed ceiling of 1 GB of memory and 2 CPUs. When an account goes over, its terms say it’s slowed down automatically.
We give each account 3 GB of memory and the same 2 CPUs. A higher ceiling isn’t extra speed for a quiet brochure site; it’s headroom before a busy client, such as a shop on sale day, gets slowed down. If your clients run small sites, 1 GB may never matter. If a few run WooCommerce or heavy page builders, compare this row first. Our guide to overselling explains how shared resources are sized.
Does switching fix it? Yes, if memory is what your busier clients run short of. CPU is the same.
Four locations, and a fee to move between them
GreenGeeks lists four data centres: Chicago, Montreal, Amsterdam and Singapore. Moving an existing account from one to another costs $29.95. There’s nothing on the US West Coast, in the UK, in Australia or in India.
If most of your clients’ visitors are in those places, a closer server may matter more than anything else on this page. We have nine locations: Portland and Washington D.C. in the US, Montreal, London, Frankfurt, Mumbai, Singapore, Seoul and Sydney. For clients who need Canadian hosting, it’s a tie: both have Montreal.
Does switching fix it? Yes, if a host has a location nearer your clients’ visitors.
You’ve outgrown 80 accounts
RH-80 is GreenGeeks’ largest reseller plan, and GreenGeeks told us the next step is a VPS. If you’d rather keep managing clients in reseller WHM than run a server, that’s a real ceiling.
Our largest plan holds 200 accounts (130 on the storage-optimised version), and you can move up a tier without migrating. Above 200, or if you want root access, we’re not the answer: we don’t sell root VPS or dedicated servers. Read outgrowing reseller hosting before you decide which way to go.
Does switching fix it? Yes, between 80 and 200 accounts. Beyond that, look at a VPS.
Billing software
Every GreenGeeks reseller plan includes WHMCS, at the Starter tier. So billing software isn’t a reason to leave.
What matters is what happens when you do. A host-supplied licence normally ends with the plan, so export your WHMCS installation and database first, and have a licence ready at the new host. We include WHMCS Starter from our Grow plan up (Blesta on Kickstart) and move your existing installation onto it for free. If you’d be switching platforms, read WHMCS vs Blesta first. Our comparison of reseller hosting with free WHMCS lists who includes what.
Does switching fix it? Nothing to fix, but plan the licence before you move.
Does switching fix it?
| Why you’re looking | Does switching fix it? | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| RH-50 or RH-80 renewal doubles | Yes, on cost per account | The plan match |
| RH-25 renewal | Rarely, if you need WHMCS | Stay, or our Kickstart if Blesta suits you |
| Restores by ticket, one free a month | Yes | ChemiCloud, HostPapa (both self-restore) |
| 1 GB memory per account | Yes | ChemiCloud (3 GB); hosting.com, Verpex (2 GB) |
| Server location | Yes, if a host is nearer your visitors | ChemiCloud, hosting.com |
| More than 80 accounts | Yes, up to 200 | ChemiCloud; hosting.com to 300 |
| Billing software | No need; plan the licence | Hosts that include your platform |
| Green hosting | Only with some hosts | Stay, or HostPapa |
Reasons to stay with GreenGeeks
Some of GreenGeeks’ reseller features are better than ours. If two or more of these are why you chose it, switching may cost you more than it saves.
- The green programme, if it’s part of what you sell.
- 24/7 phone support, as well as chat and email. We support resellers by chat and ticket only.
- A domain reseller account in the bundle. GreenGeeks includes eNom, and told us the account stays active if you cancel your hosting. We don’t include one; we introduce resellers to ResellerClub or CentralNic instead.
- RH-25, if you need WHMCS for 25 clients or fewer. It renews at $34.95 a month. Our cheapest plan with WHMCS, Grow, renews at $45.95.
- An agency programme. GreenGeeks runs one with a named account manager. Ask whether it applies to your reseller plan.
- You may want to sell your book one day. GreenGeeks says it acquires hosting businesses and resellers of any size.
Some things are the same on both sides, so they aren’t reasons to move in either direction: WHMCS Starter included (on our Grow and up), daily backups kept for 30 days, 2 CPUs per account, and a Canadian data centre in Montreal.
The alternatives compared
We compared GreenGeeks with ChemiCloud and the four other cPanel/WHM reseller hosts we cover in this series: InMotion, HostPapa, hosting.com and Verpex. SiteGround sells reseller-style plans on its own control panel, not cPanel, so it isn’t a like-for-like move.
Each row shows the provider’s smallest plan that fits RH-50’s 50 accounts, because RH-50 is GreenGeeks’ best-selling plan.
| Plan | Accounts | Storage | Intro → renewal ($/mo) | Renewal per account | Billing software | Backups | Memory / CPU per account | Phone | Refund window | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GreenGeeks | RH-50 | 50 | 80 GB SSD | 24.95 → 49.95 | $1.00 | WHMCS Starter | Daily, kept 30 days; restore by ticket, first each month free | 1 GB / 2 CPU | Yes | 30 days (first term) |
| ChemiCloud | Grow | 60 (or 90*) | 120 GB NVMe (or 60 GB*) | 19.95 → 45.95 | $0.77 (or $0.51*) | WHMCS Starter or Blesta | Daily, kept 30 days, self-restore | 3 GB / 2 CPU | No | 45 days |
| InMotion | R-2000N | 50 | 160 GB NVMe | 26.99 → 55.99 | $1.12 | WHMCS Starter | Backup Manager add-on, $2.99/mo | 1 GB / 1 CPU | Yes | 90 days (6-month+ terms) |
| HostPapa | Gold | 60 | 150 GB NVMe | 34.95 → 69.99 | $1.17 | WHMCS Starter or ClientExec | Daily, kept 30 days, self-restore | Shared pool: 8 cores / 8 GB for the plan | Yes | 30 days (first purchase) |
| hosting.com | Reseller 60 | 60 | 180 GB NVMe | 32.92 → 65.83 | $1.10 | Not included | Daily, kept 30 days | 2 GB / 2 CPU | Yes | 30 days |
| Verpex | Reseller 60 | 60 | 180 GB NVMe | 27.60 → 69.00 | $1.15 | Not included | Daily, up to twice a day | 2 GB / 2 CPU | Yes | 30 days |
*ChemiCloud’s accounts-optimised Grow: 90 accounts and 60 GB at the same price as the storage-optimised version. Monthly prices in USD at a 12-month term, checked 1–6 October 2026 on each provider’s own pages, with GreenGeeks, HostPapa, hosting.com and InMotion details confirmed by their sales teams. Introductory rates apply to the first term only.
At this size, GreenGeeks renews below every alternative except us, and it includes WHMCS, which hosting.com and Verpex don’t. The rows that separate it from the field are restores, memory per account and the refund window. Storage is close: RH-50 has 80 GB, our storage-optimised Grow 120 GB, and the others more.
The alternatives, one by one
Every provider gets the same treatment: what you’d gain compared with GreenGeeks, and what you’d give up. That includes us.
ChemiCloud (our plans)
Best if you’re leaving GreenGeeks because of: RH-50 or RH-80 renewals, restores by ticket, 1 GB of memory per client, a location GreenGeeks doesn’t have, or the 80-account ceiling.
What you gain. At GreenGeeks’ best-selling size, our Grow plan renews for $4 a month less than RH-50, with 10 more accounts, 40 GB more storage and WHMCS Starter included on both. Each client account gets up to 3 GB of memory and 2 CPUs. Daily backups are kept for 30 days, and you restore a single client’s account yourself, as often as you need. Malware removal is free on reseller plans with no limit on how often; GreenGeeks includes one complimentary WordPress clean-up for one account.
We migrate your whole book free, however many accounts it has, and move your existing WHMCS or Blesta installation and its database onto the licence included with your plan, at no cost. Support is 24/7, by people, with no AI chatbots. LiteSpeed runs on every plan, and you get nine locations, plans up to 200 accounts, month-to-month billing and a 45-day money-back guarantee.
What you give up. Phone support: we offer chat and tickets only, by choice. Support in languages other than English. A bundled domain reseller account. A green programme you can show clients. And WHMCS at the 25-account size: our cheapest plan with it is Grow, which renews at $45.95 against RH-25’s $34.95.
Renewal reality. Grow is $19.95 a month on a 12-month term and renews at $45.95. Kickstart, with Blesta, is $17.95 and renews at $34.95, the same as RH-25, for 40 accounts (60 on the accounts-optimised version).
Two things to know at setup. Quota, suspension and abuse notices go to the contact email set on each cPanel account, so set it to your own address, not the client’s. And going over your plan’s bandwidth limit suspends the account rather than slowing it down.
| GreenGeeks RH-50 vs ChemiCloud Grow | GreenGeeks | ChemiCloud |
|---|---|---|
| cPanel accounts | 50 | 60 (or 90) |
| Storage | 80 GB | 120 GB (or 60 GB) |
| Billing software | WHMCS Starter | WHMCS Starter or Blesta |
| 12-month intro → renewal | $24.95 → $49.95 | $19.95 → $45.95 |
| Memory / CPU per account | 1 GB / 2 CPU | 3 GB / 2 CPU |
| Restoring a client account | By ticket; first each month free | Yourself, any time, or by ticket |
| Phone support | Yes | No (chat and ticket) |
| Refund window | 30 days | 45 days |

InMotion Hosting
Best if you’re leaving GreenGeeks because of: the refund window or storage, while keeping WHMCS and phone support.
What you gain. WHMCS Starter on every plan, two dedicated IPs and phone support from R-2000N up, an eNom domain reseller account like your current one, more storage at each size, and a 90-day money-back guarantee on 6-month and longer terms.
What you give up. Memory and CPU: 1 GB and 1 CPU per account, half GreenGeeks’ CPU. Backups are a Backup Manager add-on at $2.99 a month. Three locations, against GreenGeeks’ four. And per account, R-2000N renews above RH-50.
Renewal reality. R-2000N: $26.99 → $55.99 on a 12-month term. Our page on InMotion reseller alternatives covers its plans in more detail.
HostPapa
Best if you’re leaving GreenGeeks because of: restores by ticket, and you want to keep a green-hosting story.
What you gain. Daily backups kept for 30 days that you can restore yourself, a company-wide green-energy programme with a badge for client sites, 24/7 phone support in four languages, two dedicated IPs, and an OpenSRS domain reseller account you keep access to after cancelling. WHMCS is included, and from Gold you can choose ClientExec instead.
What you give up. A fixed allowance per client. HostPapa’s CPU and memory are a pool for the whole plan, which you divide between clients yourself. Price: at 50 accounts you’d need Gold, which renews at $1.17 per account against RH-50’s $1.00. HostPapa’s renewal rates do fall on longer terms.
Renewal reality. Gold: $34.95 → $69.99 on a 12-month term. Our page on HostPapa reseller alternatives explains the pool and the term pricing.
hosting.com (cPanel plans)
Best if you’re leaving GreenGeeks because of: location, or the 80-account ceiling.
What you gain. The longest location list here, 2 GB of memory per account, daily backups kept for 30 days, 24/7 phone support, and cPanel plans up to 300 accounts. (Its separate Enhance-panel line is a different product.)
What you give up. Billing software, so you’d buy a WHMCS licence yourself. CPU: 1 per account, against GreenGeeks’ 2. And at 50 accounts, Reseller 60 renews above RH-50 per account.
Renewal reality. Reseller 60: $32.92 → $65.83 on a 12-month term. Our page on hosting.com reseller alternatives covers both of its reseller lines.
Verpex
Best if you’re leaving GreenGeeks because of: memory per account, and you don’t need billing software included.
What you gain. 2 GB of memory and 2 CPUs per account, daily backups (up to twice a day), unbranded nameservers and server hostnames, 24/7 phone support, and free migrations with no stated limit. Verpex renews at the same rate whatever term you choose.
What you give up. WHMCS, which Verpex doesn’t include. And price: Reseller 60 renews at $1.15 per account against RH-50’s $1.00.
Renewal reality. Reseller 60: $27.60 → $69.00 on a 12-month term.

Renewal price per month at a 12-month term, divided by the plan’s cPanel accounts. ChemiCloud cells are storage-optimised plans unless noted. Checked 1–6 October 2026.
Three things stand out.
- RH-25 is where GreenGeeks is hardest to beat. Most alternatives cost about the same per account or more, and none of the cheaper ones include WHMCS at that size. Our Kickstart matches the monthly price with more accounts, but with Blesta rather than WHMCS.
- At RH-50 and RH-80, GreenGeeks renews below every alternative except us. If price is your main reason to move, the field is narrower than it looks.
- Above 80 accounts, the comparison stops being about price. GreenGeeks has no reseller plan there, so the choice is a VPS with GreenGeeks or a larger reseller plan elsewhere.
Where we’d send you elsewhere
We’d rather you move once, to the right host, than move to us and leave in six months.
- Green hosting is part of your pitch: stay with GreenGeeks, or look at HostPapa.
- You want phone support: stay with GreenGeeks, or look at InMotion, HostPapa, hosting.com or Verpex. We support by chat and ticket only.
- You have 25 clients or fewer and need WHMCS at the lowest renewal: stay on RH-25.
- You want a domain reseller account in the same bundle: stay with GreenGeeks, or look at InMotion (eNom) or HostPapa (OpenSRS).
- You need more than 200 accounts, or root access: hosting.com goes to 300 accounts on cPanel; beyond that, you need a VPS. We stop at 200 and sell no root access.
- You want out of hosting, not a new host: selling your book may make more sense than moving it. Here’s how selling a hosting book of business works. GreenGeeks itself says it acquires resellers.
How to switch from GreenGeeks without your clients noticing
You’ve decided to move. The order matters more than the speed. These steps follow the sequence our migrations team uses; the detail for each is in our guide to migrating client sites without downtime.
- Start four to six weeks before your GreenGeeks renewal date. Switch off auto-renew; don’t send a cancellation request yet. GreenGeeks’ terms ask you to switch off auto-renew at least five business days before renewal and charge the renewal a day early. Its money-back guarantee doesn’t cover renewals. A few weeks of overlap is cheaper than a rushed move.
- Take your own copy of everything. GreenGeeks’ terms make customers responsible for their own backups. In our migrations team’s experience, GreenGeeks also hides cPanel’s Backup Wizard, so the usual one-click full-account backup isn’t there. Download each site’s files and databases, and export mail, before anything moves, or ask GreenGeeks support for a full backup. (If you’re moving to us, our migrations team handles the transfer without the wizard.)
- Sort out billing. Export your WHMCS installation and database, and make sure the new host has a licence ready from the day your GreenGeeks plan ends. If you’re moving to ChemiCloud, we’ll move a WHMCS or Blesta installation onto the licence included with your plan at no cost (Blesta on Kickstart, WHMCS from Grow). If you’re changing platform, read WHMCS vs Blesta before deciding.
- Leave the domains where they are, for now. GreenGeeks told us your eNom domain reseller account stays active after you cancel the hosting, so client domains don’t have to move with it. Check how domain renewals will be billed once the hosting has gone, and keep your GreenGeeks account paid up while domains remain there: its terms allow domain registrations to be deleted if an account is terminated for non-payment. If you’d rather consolidate domains elsewhere, do it later as a separate project. Never let a domain transfer overlap the hosting move.
- Set up private nameservers at the new host first. If your clients already point at your own nameservers, you change the glue records once and the whole book follows. Here’s how private nameservers work.
- Migrate and test each account before touching DNS. Check each site on the new server with a hosts-file entry or a temporary URL. Free migration allowances depend on the host you’re moving to. We migrate a whole book free, however many accounts. (If you’re moving to GreenGeeks instead, its free migration covers 30 cPanel accounts within 30 days of sign-up, then $5 per account.)
- Check anything tied to an IP address. Most sites need nothing, but check firewall allow-lists, payment gateway settings and any DNS records that point at the old server’s IP directly.
- Prepare email. Lower DNS TTLs a day ahead and confirm SPF records include the new host’s mail servers.
- Tell your clients before, not after. A short note about the date and what they might notice saves most of the questions. Here’s how to tell clients about a hosting change, and what to say if something goes down.
- Switch DNS, then follow up. The most common problem our migrations team sees after a move is a DNS change that’s been left undone. Chase every client whose domain doesn’t point at you yet.
- Cancel GreenGeeks last. GreenGeeks’ terms say a cancellation can be processed any time after you request it, and that files are then permanently removed from its servers. So send the request only when every account is live elsewhere, DNS has switched, and your own copies from step 2 are safely downloaded. With auto-renew already off, the plan will simply run to the end of its term.
FAQ
Why does my GreenGeeks reseller plan cost twice as much at renewal?
GreenGeeks’ first-term prices are promotional. RH-50 and RH-80 renew at double; RH-25 at 1.75×. To compare fairly, divide the renewal price by your number of accounts: $1.40 on RH-25, $1.00 on RH-50 and $0.87 on RH-80. The plan match does the same for every alternative.
How long does GreenGeeks keep reseller backups?
GreenGeeks’ sales team told us reseller backups run daily and are kept for 30 days. Restores go through support: the first each month is free, later ones are charged. Its public pages still describe a 24-hour disaster-recovery copy, so get the current policy in writing.
Does GreenGeeks reseller hosting include WHMCS?
Yes. Every GreenGeeks reseller plan includes WHMCS at the Starter tier. Export your installation and database before you leave, and have a licence ready at your new host.
What happens to my eNom domains if I leave GreenGeeks?
GreenGeeks told us the eNom domain reseller account stays active after you cancel the hosting, so your clients’ domains don’t have to move with it. Keep the account in good standing while domains remain there, and move them later as a separate project if you want to.
Can I move more than 30 accounts from GreenGeeks for free?
That depends on the host you move to, not on GreenGeeks. We migrate a whole book free, however many accounts it has. The 30-account limit is GreenGeeks’ allowance for accounts moving to GreenGeeks.
What’s the best alternative to GreenGeeks RH-50?
It depends why you’re leaving. On renewal price per account, our Grow plan ($0.77) is the only alternative here below RH-50 ($1.00). For self-restore backups plus a green programme, HostPapa. For the longest refund window, InMotion.
Moving off GreenGeeks?
Our migrations team moves every client account into your new WHM for free, not just the first 30, along with your WHMCS or Blesta installation. You get daily backups kept for 30 days that you can restore yourself, 3 GB of memory for every client, and we hold your price until the end of the term you pay for.
