We make reseller hosting, and we compete with NameHero. This page compares NameHero’s reseller plans with five alternatives, ours included, and it’s honest about when staying with NameHero is the better call.
It covers cPanel reseller hosting only. If you host your own website on NameHero’s shared, WordPress or VPS plans, our web hosting plans are the better comparison. And if you don’t have hosting clients yet, start with our guide to starting a reseller hosting business.
The short answer (verified 7 October 2026): compare what you pay per client account at renewal, not the price you started on, and check how much bandwidth your book uses. Every NameHero reseller plan renews at about three times its first-term price, and bandwidth is metered. Switching changes most on Silver and Gold. If you’re new and want hand-holding, or you’re on Diamond and using its storage, staying can be the better call.

NameHero reseller hosting at a glance
NameHero sells four cPanel/WHM reseller plans. They differ in client accounts, storage and bandwidth; the resources each client account gets are the same on all four.
| Silver | Gold | Platinum | Diamond | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cPanel accounts | 40 | 60 | 100 | 150 |
| Storage (NVMe) | 60 GB | 100 GB | 170 GB | 270 GB |
| Bandwidth per month | 600 GB | 1 TB | 1.7 TB | 2.7 TB |
| Billing software | Blesta | WHMCS Starter or Blesta | WHMCS Starter or Blesta | WHMCS Starter or Blesta |
| Memory / CPU per account | 2 GB / 2 | 2 GB / 2 | 2 GB / 2 | 2 GB / 2 |
| First term → renewal ($/mo, 12-month term) | 16.48 → 47.08 | 23.04 → 65.83 | 32.96 → 94.17 | 39.67 → 113.33 |
| Renewal per cPanel account | $1.18 | $1.10 | $0.94 | $0.76 |
Prices in USD at a 12-month term, confirmed by NameHero’s sales team on 7 October 2026. NameHero’s reseller page lists 3-year prices, which renew lower (Silver at $44.74, for example). Resource limits from NameHero’s account limits article.
The rest, in brief. Every plan includes WHM, white-label private nameservers, LiteSpeed, CloudLinux, Imunify360 and nightly JetBackup backups. Support runs 24/7 by chat and ticket, with phone in US business hours. Every reseller gets a free eNom domain reseller account. NameHero migrates 10 cPanel accounts free in your first 30 days, and its 30-day money-back guarantee is less an $8.95 setup fee.
What’s tied to your NameHero account, and what happens when you leave
NameHero supplies two things many hosts don’t: your billing licence and a domain reseller account. Here’s what happens to each when you leave, and to the rest of your setup.
Your billing licence ends with the plan.
NameHero includes Blesta on Silver and WHMCS Starter from Gold up, and told us the licence ends when you cancel. Your installation and data don’t: clients, invoices and products are yours. Back up the database and files before you cancel. We include Blesta on Kickstart and WHMCS Starter or Blesta from Grow up, and move your existing installation onto that licence free. Our comparison of reseller hosting with free WHMCS shows who includes what, and WHMCS vs Blesta helps if you’re thinking of switching platform.
Your domain reseller account stays.
NameHero told us your eNom domain reseller account remains active after you cancel the hosting. So client domains don’t have to move: point their nameservers at your new host and leave the registrations where they are. We don’t offer a domain reseller account ourselves; if you ever move domain reselling, we recommend ResellerClub or CentralNic and will introduce you to their account managers.
Your backups stay with NameHero.
The nightly JetBackup copies belong to the NameHero account. Download a full cPanel backup of every client account yourself before anything moves.
Don’t let an invoice go overdue mid-move.
NameHero’s pricing and payment terms give four days’ grace on an invoice, then suspend the service and add a 15% late fee. Overdue services can be terminated at any time, and NameHero doesn’t guarantee recovering the data; it may be able to restore from backup if you ask within seven days, for $50 per account. So cancel deliberately, after everything has moved, never by letting a card fail.
Why resellers on NameHero look elsewhere
Each reason below comes with a straight answer: will a different host actually fix it?
Every plan renews at about three times its first price
All four plans have the same first-term discount, so the step is the same everywhere: about 2.9×. Silver goes from $16.48 to $47.08 a month on a 12-month term, Gold from $23.04 to $65.83.
The number that matters is renewal price per cPanel account: $1.18 on Silver, $1.10 on Gold, $0.94 on Platinum and $0.76 on Diamond. The smaller the plan, the more each client costs you.
Silver and Gold line up closely with our plans, so the comparison is clean. Silver and our Kickstart are both 40 accounts, 60 GB and Blesta; Kickstart renews at $34.95, about $146 a year less. Gold and our Grow are both 60 accounts with WHMCS Starter or Blesta; Grow renews at $45.95, about $239 a year less, with 20 GB more storage. In NameHero’s favour: Silver’s first year is cheaper than Kickstart’s ($16.48 against $17.95), and NameHero’s renewal rates fall on longer terms. If you pass hosting costs on to clients, the renewal figure decides whether you end up raising your clients’ prices, and it feeds straight into how much reselling actually earns you.
cPanel raises its licence prices every January. NameHero told us it holds a reseller’s price until the next due date; we hold ours until the end of the term you’ve paid for, which comes to the same thing. To see what the next increase means for your book, try our cPanel price increase calculator.
Does switching fix it? On Silver and Gold, yes. On Diamond, less than you’d think.
Bandwidth is metered, and overage is billed
NameHero’s plans include 600 GB of bandwidth a month on Silver, rising to 2.7 TB on Diamond: about 15 to 18 GB per client account. Its help centre says that if you go over, it doesn’t suspend the account; it bills overage at $0.01 per MB, about $10 per GB, on a separate monthly invoice. Upgrading to the next plan is the alternative.
That’s a reasonable choice: your clients stay online and you pay for what you used. Ours is different. Our plans include five to six times the bandwidth at the matching sizes: 3 TB on Kickstart against Silver’s 600 GB, 6 TB on Grow against Gold’s 1 TB. We send a notice before you reach the limit; if you go over it, the plan is suspended until you upgrade. More headroom, but a harder edge.
Most books of brochure sites never come near 600 GB. It matters for busy WooCommerce stores, video or large downloads, and campaign traffic spikes. Check your bandwidth in WHM for the last few months before deciding. Our guide to overselling explains how plan limits are sized.
Does switching fix it? If you’re near your allowance or paying overage, yes.
Three server locations, one per plan
NameHero told us its reseller plans can be hosted in Lenexa (Kansas), London or Toronto, one location per plan, so your whole book sits in one place. For US, UK or Canadian clients, that’s fine. For clients in mainland Europe, Asia or Australia, distance adds latency to every page load.
We have nine locations: Portland, Washington D.C., Montreal, London, Frankfurt, Singapore, Seoul, Sydney and Mumbai. If your clients are on two continents, you can run a second reseller account in another region on the same private nameservers. See our server locations.
Does switching fix it? For clients outside North America and the UK, yes.
2 GB of memory per client account
NameHero’s published limits give each client account up to 2 GB of memory and 2 CPUs, and NameHero told us that’s the same on all four plans. We give each account 3 GB and 2 CPUs. A brochure site won’t notice; a busy WooCommerce store or plugin-heavy site hits a 2 GB ceiling sooner, as slow pages or 500 errors. If one client needs more than 3 GB with us, our Power Boost add-on raises that account alone.
Does switching fix it? For a few heavy client sites, yes. For a book of brochure sites, it’s headroom, not a reason to move.
You’ve outgrown 150 accounts
Diamond is NameHero’s largest reseller plan; above it, you’d buy a second package. Our largest holds 200 accounts on the accounts-optimised version, but with 100 GB of storage, so it suits books of many small sites. hosting.com’s cPanel line goes to 300. Above 200, or if you want root access, we’re not the answer: we don’t sell root VPS or dedicated servers. Read outgrowing reseller hosting before deciding which way to go.
Does switching fix it? Between 150 and 200 small accounts, yes. If you need Diamond’s 270 GB as well, look at hosting.com or a VPS.
Not reasons to leave
Some things people expect to differ are close to equal, so they shouldn’t drive a move in either direction.
- Billing software. Both of us include Blesta on the smallest plan and WHMCS Starter from the 60-account plan up.
- Backups and restores. NameHero backs up every account nightly, restored from cPanel through JetBackup. It doesn’t publish how many days it keeps, and its sales team didn’t give a figure when we asked. Ours are daily, kept 30 days and self-restored. If retention matters, ask. There’s more on who’s responsible when a client deletes their site.
- White-label and security. Both use private nameservers and brandable cPanel, and both run Imunify360, CloudLinux and LiteSpeed.
- Price protection. Both hold your price for the term you’ve paid when cPanel’s licence costs rise.
Does switching fix it?
| Why you’re looking | Does switching fix it? | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Silver or Gold renewal | Yes | The plan match |
| Platinum or Diamond renewal | Partly; Diamond is hard to beat per account | The plan match, storage column first |
| Bandwidth overage | Yes, if you’re near your allowance | ChemiCloud (3–12 TB) |
| Clients outside North America and the UK | Yes | ChemiCloud (nine locations) |
| 2 GB per account | For heavy sites, yes | ChemiCloud (3 GB) |
| More than 150 accounts | Yes, for small sites | ChemiCloud (200), hosting.com (300) |
| Billing software, backups, white-label, security | Not reasons to leave | Close to equal |
Reasons to stay with NameHero
Some of NameHero’s reseller features are better than ours. If two or more of these are why you chose it, switching may cost you more than it saves.
- Phone support in US business hours, alongside 24/7 chat and tickets. We support resellers by chat and ticket only, by choice.
- Hand-holding to get started. NameHero says its founder and CEO personally walks new resellers through setup, free. If you’re starting from zero and want that, it’s a real advantage.
- A domain reseller account included. If domains are a meaningful part of what you sell, it’s convenient. We don’t offer one.
- Overage billing instead of suspension, if you’d rather pay for an occasional spike than risk downtime.
- Lower renewals on longer terms, if you’re happy to prepay three years.
- More storage at 100 and 150 accounts. Platinum’s 170 GB and Diamond’s 270 GB have no exact match in our range, and Diamond renews at $0.76 per account.
- A US, UK or Canadian client book that sits comfortably inside its bandwidth. Then location and overage aren’t problems, and the case for moving is mostly price.
The NameHero alternatives compared
We compared NameHero with ChemiCloud and the five cPanel/WHM reseller hosts we cover in this series: InMotion, GreenGeeks, HostPapa, hosting.com (its cPanel reseller plans, not its Enhance line) and Verpex. hosting.com and Verpex are both part of World Host Group. SiteGround sells reseller-style plans on its own control panel, not cPanel, so it isn’t a like-for-like move.
Each row shows the provider’s smallest plan that fits Gold’s 60 accounts, the size where NameHero’s WHMCS licence starts.
| Plan | Accounts | Storage | Renewal ($/mo) | Renewal per account | Billing software | Backups | Memory / CPU per account | Phone | Refund window | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NameHero | Gold | 60 | 100 GB NVMe | 65.83 | $1.10 | WHMCS Starter or Blesta | Nightly, self-restore; retention not published | 2 GB / 2 CPU | US business hours | 30 days, less $8.95 setup fee |
| ChemiCloud | Grow | 60 (or 90*) | 120 GB NVMe (or 60 GB*) | 45.95 | $0.77 (or $0.51*) | WHMCS Starter or Blesta | Daily, kept 30 days, self-restore | 3 GB / 2 CPU | No | 45 days |
| InMotion | R-3000N | 80 | 200 GB NVMe | 75.99 | $0.95 | WHMCS Starter | Backup Manager add-on, $2.99/mo | 1 GB / 1 CPU | Yes | 90 days (6-month+ terms) |
| GreenGeeks | RH-80 | 80 | 160 GB SSD | 69.95 | $0.87 | WHMCS Starter | Daily, kept 30 days; restore by ticket, first each month free | 1 GB / 2 CPU | Yes | 30 days (first term) |

| Verpex (World Host Group) | Reseller 60 | 60 | 180 GB NVMe | 69.00 | $1.15 | Not included | Daily, up to twice a day; self-restore or by ticket; retention not published | 2 GB / 2 vCPU | Yes | 30 days (first term) |
*ChemiCloud’s accounts-optimised Grow: 90 accounts and 60 GB at the same price as the storage-optimised version. Renewal prices per month in USD at a 12-month term, checked 1–7 October 2026 on each provider’s own pages, with details confirmed by each provider’s sales team. First-term prices are lower everywhere and apply once.
At 60 accounts, NameHero’s renewal sits in the middle of the field: level with hosting.com, below Verpex, HostPapa, GreenGeeks and InMotion in monthly total. Where it stands out is in including billing software, which hosting.com and Verpex don’t. We renew lowest per account at this size, and GreenGeeks comes next, with 20 more accounts for $4 a month more than NameHero.
The alternatives, one by one
Every provider gets the same treatment: what you’d gain compared with NameHero, and what you’d give up. That includes us.
ChemiCloud (our plans)
Best if you’re leaving NameHero because of: the Silver or Gold renewal, bandwidth, clients outside North America and the UK, or memory per account.
What you gain. At Silver and Gold sizes, a lower renewal for the same accounts and billing software: Kickstart renews at $34.95 against Silver’s $47.08, Grow at $45.95 against Gold’s $65.83. Five to six times the bandwidth. Up to 3 GB of memory and 2 CPUs per account, and 300 emails an hour per domain. Daily backups kept 30 days, self-restored. Nine locations. Imunify360 on every server, and malware removal free with no limit.
We migrate your whole book free, however many accounts it has, and move your existing WHMCS or Blesta installation and its database onto the licence included with your plan, at no cost. Support is 24/7 and handled by people from the first message, with no AI chatbots. You also get month-to-month billing, plans up to 200 accounts and a 45-day money-back guarantee.
What you give up. Phone support: we offer chat and tickets only. Support in languages other than English. A domain reseller account. Founder-led onboarding. Overage billing: going over our bandwidth limit suspends the plan, after a notice. Storage at 100 and 150 accounts, where Platinum and Diamond give you more than any single plan of ours. And Silver’s slightly cheaper first year.
Renewal reality. Kickstart is $17.95 a month on a 12-month term and renews at $34.95; Grow is $19.95 and renews at $45.95.
One thing to know at setup. Quota, suspension and abuse notices go to the contact email set on each cPanel account, so set it to your own address, not the client’s.

InMotion Hosting
Best if you’re leaving NameHero because of: a need for 24/7 phone support, with WHMCS kept.
What you gain. WHMCS Starter on every plan, 24/7 phone support from R-2000N up, two dedicated IPs, an eNom domain reseller account, more storage, and a 90-day money-back guarantee on 6-month and longer terms.
What you give up. Memory and CPU: 1 GB and 1 CPU per account, half of NameHero’s. Backups are a $2.99-a-month add-on. And InMotion renews higher than NameHero at most sizes.
Renewal reality. R-3000N renews at $75.99 for 80 accounts. Our page on InMotion reseller alternatives covers its plans in more detail.
GreenGeeks
Best if you’re leaving NameHero because of: 24/7 phone support at 50 to 80 accounts, with WHMCS kept.
What you gain. WHMCS Starter on every plan, 24/7 phone support, an eNom domain reseller account, daily backups kept for 30 days, and an energy-matching programme you can pass on to clients. RH-80 renews at $0.87 per account, below Gold’s $1.10.
What you give up. Memory: 1 GB per account, half of NameHero’s. Restores go by ticket, with only the first each month free. The largest plan stops at 80 accounts, so Platinum and Diamond books don’t fit.
Renewal reality. RH-80 renews at $69.95. Our page on GreenGeeks reseller alternatives has the detail.
HostPapa
Best if you’re leaving NameHero because of: wanting to set CPU and memory for each client yourself, with phone support.
What you gain. CPU and memory you divide between clients as you choose, daily backups kept for 30 days that you restore yourself, 24/7 phone support in four languages, and an OpenSRS domain reseller account.
What you give up. A fixed allowance per client, because the pool is shared across the plan. Billing software only from Gold up. And at 60 accounts, a slightly higher renewal than NameHero’s Gold.
Renewal reality. Gold renews at $69.99 for 60 accounts; HostPapa’s renewal rates fall on longer terms. Our page on HostPapa reseller alternatives explains the pool.
hosting.com and Verpex (World Host Group)
These are two brands in the same group, so we cover them together.
Best if you’re leaving NameHero because of: locations, or the 150-account ceiling (hosting.com’s cPanel line goes to 300).
What you gain. More storage at each size (180 GB at 60 accounts at both), daily backups and 24/7 phone support. Verpex adds nine locations and keeps NameHero’s 2 GB and 2 CPUs per account.
What you give up. Billing software: neither includes it, so you’d buy a WHMCS licence yourself, at $34.95 a month for Plus as of October 2026. hosting.com gives each account one CPU, against NameHero’s two. Verpex limits each account to 100 outbound emails an hour and stops at 100 accounts.
Renewal reality. Reseller 60 renews at $65.83 at hosting.com and $69.00 at Verpex, before a billing licence. Our pages on hosting.com reseller alternatives and Verpex reseller alternatives cover both, and how the two brands relate.

Renewal price per month at a 12-month term, divided by the plan’s cPanel accounts. ChemiCloud cells are storage-optimised plans unless noted. Billing software included at NameHero, ChemiCloud, InMotion, GreenGeeks, and HostPapa from Gold; not at hosting.com or Verpex. Checked 1–7 October 2026; hosting.com figures on publication day. †Less storage than the NameHero plan in that row. ‡ Fewer accounts than the NameHero plan in that row.
Three things stand out.
- Silver and Gold are where switching saves most. Our plans match them account for account and billing licence for licence, and renew $12 to $20 a month lower.
- At 60 accounts, NameHero is mid-pack against everyone else. Only we and GreenGeeks renew noticeably lower per account, and GreenGeeks gives up half the memory.
- Diamond is where NameHero is hardest to beat. At $0.76 per account, it renews lower than any other 150-account plan here, and no plan of ours matches both its 150 accounts and its 270 GB. If you use that storage, stay, or compare hosting.com’s Reseller 150.
Where we’d send you elsewhere
We’d rather you move once, to the right host, than move to us and leave in six months.
- You’re new to reselling and want someone to walk you through setup: NameHero’s onboarding is worth having. Stay, and read our guide to starting a reseller hosting business alongside it.
- Phone support is non-negotiable: stay with NameHero, or look at InMotion, GreenGeeks, HostPapa, hosting.com or Verpex. We support by chat and ticket only.
- You’re on Diamond and use most of its storage: stay, or compare hosting.com’s Reseller 150.
- Your book is in the US, UK or Canada and well within its bandwidth: the case for moving is mostly price. Run the numbers in the plan match before you decide.
- You need more than 200 accounts on cPanel, or root access: hosting.com goes to 300 accounts; beyond that, you need a VPS. We stop at 200 and sell no root access.
- You want out of hosting, not a new host: selling your book may make more sense than moving it. Here’s how selling a hosting book of business works.
How to switch from NameHero without your clients noticing
The order matters more than the speed. These steps follow the sequence our migrations team uses; the detail is in our guide to migrating client sites without downtime.
- Start four to six weeks before your NameHero renewal date. Auto-renewal is on by default at NameHero, and you can only cancel from inside its client area, so set a reminder and plan the move to finish before the renewal invoice is due.
- Take your own copy of everything. Download a full cPanel backup of every account, plus mail, before anything moves. NameHero’s JetBackup copies stay with NameHero.
- Back up your billing system. NameHero’s WHMCS or Blesta licence ends when you cancel, but the data is yours. Export the database and files now. If you’re moving to ChemiCloud, we’ll move the installation and database onto the licence included with your plan at no cost (Blesta on Kickstart, WHMCS or Blesta from Grow). Check it’s working before you cancel anything.
- Leave domains where they are. Your eNom domain reseller account stays active after you cancel NameHero’s hosting, so client domains don’t have to move. If you want them elsewhere one day, do it later, as a separate job. Never let a domain transfer overlap the hosting move.
- Set up private nameservers at the new host first. If your clients point at your own nameservers, you change the glue records once and the whole book follows. Here’s how private nameservers work.
- Migrate and test each account before touching DNS. Check each site on the new server with a hosts-file entry or a temporary URL. We migrate a whole book free, however many accounts it has, into the cPanel accounts you choose under your WHM.
- Check your busiest senders and biggest sites. Compare clients who send newsletters or order mail with the new host’s outbound limit (ours is 300 emails an hour per domain), and check your heaviest bandwidth users against the new plan’s allowance. Lower DNS TTLs a day ahead, and confirm SPF records include the new host’s mail servers.
- Check anything tied to an IP address. Most sites need nothing, but check firewall allow-lists, payment gateway settings and any DNS records that point at the old server’s IP directly.
- Tell your clients before, not after. A short note about the date and what they might notice saves most of the questions. Here’s how to tell clients about a hosting change, and what to say if something goes down.
- Switch DNS, then follow up. The most common problem our migrations team sees after a move is a DNS change that’s been left undone. Chase every client whose domain doesn’t point at you yet.
- Cancel NameHero deliberately. Never let it lapse. NameHero suspends an overdue service after four days, adds a 15% late fee, and can terminate it at any time after that; a restore is only possible if you ask within seven days, at $50 per account. So don’t rely on a failed card to end the plan. Once every account is live elsewhere, DNS has switched and your backups from step 2 are downloaded, cancel from the client area before the renewal date. (For your own late payers, see non-payment and suspensions).

Does NameHero charge for going over the bandwidth limit?

What happens to my free WHMCS licence if I leave NameHero?
NameHero told us the licence ends when you cancel the plan. Your WHMCS installation and its data are yours, so back up the database and files first and move them to a licence at your new host. We move them onto our included licence free.
Where are NameHero’s reseller servers?
NameHero told us reseller plans can be hosted in Lenexa, Kansas; London; or Toronto, with one location per plan. For clients in North America and the UK that works well. For clients in mainland Europe, Asia or Australia, a closer location loads faster.
What happens to domains in my NameHero eNom reseller account if I cancel the hosting?
NameHero told us the domain reseller account stays active. Your clients’ domains don’t have to move when the hosting does: point their nameservers at your new host and leave the registrations where they are.
What happens to my sites if my NameHero invoice goes overdue during a move?
NameHero suspends overdue services after a four-day grace period and adds a 15% late fee. Overdue services can be terminated at any time, and a restore costs $50 per account if requested within seven days. Keep the plan paid until everything has moved.
Moving off NameHero?
Our migrations team moves every client account into your new WHM for free, however many you have, and moves your WHMCS or Blesta installation onto the licence that comes with your plan. You get daily backups kept for 30 days that you restore yourself, and 24/7 support from people, not a chatbot. We hold your price until the end of the term you pay for.
